Cookie policy

Last updated September 8, 2026

HomeChefs uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage. Most of them exist so you stay signed in and see the site in your language and area. Nothing here is used for advertising, and we do not share browsing data with ad networks.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser; local storage works the same way but stays on the device rather than travelling with each request. We treat both the same in this policy. Strictly necessary items are set because the service cannot work without them. Everything else is only set once you agree.

2. Strictly necessary

Always active. Without these you cannot sign in, order or pay.

NamePurposeDuration

3. Preference

Set so the site behaves the way you left it. You can decline these; the site still works, but resets to defaults each visit.

NamePurposeDuration
LanguageKeeps the language you chose instead of guessing from your IP address each time12 months

Push registrationLinks this browser or phone to your account for notifications you opted intoUntil you turn push off

4. Analytics

Only with your consent. Analytics tells us which pages are used and where people get stuck, in aggregate. It is never used to build an advertising profile, and declining changes nothing about what you can do here.

NamePurposeDuration
Usage statisticsAggregate page views and feature usage, to improve the serviceUp to 12 months
Error diagnosticsRecords that a page failed, so we can fix itUp to 12 months
Recipes & Stories reading statisticsA random identifier for this browser tab, so views and video plays of a post are counted onceUntil you close the tab

5. Third-party storage

Our payment provider may set storage during checkout for fraud prevention — this is strictly necessary for the payment to complete. Google sign-in sets storage on Google's own domain when you use it. Map and address lookup may cache data locally to reduce lookups. These providers act under their own privacy notices; the privacy policy lists what each one handles for us.

Sharing a kitchen or a dish is handled in your own browser: the QR code is drawn on your device, and a social or messaging link only opens that service in a new window — we set no tracking cookie when you share.

Our emails carry no advertising or tracking cookies. Unsubscribing works through a signed link in the email itself, which is why it works with one click and without signing in.

6. Managing your choices

Use the button below to change your consent at any time. Your choice is stored with your account when you are signed in, so it follows you to your other devices.

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary items will sign you out and prevent ordering. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything collected before you withdrew it.
